Mariyapuram Grama panchayat

Mariyapuram Grama Panchayat is a rural local self-government institution located in the Udumbanchola Taluk of Idukki District, under the Idukki Block Panchayat. The Panchayat comprises the villages of Thangamani and Upputhode. Covering an area of 32.180 square kilometres, it is bounded by Vathikudy Grama Panchayat to the north, the Periyar River to the south, Kamakshy Grama Panchayat to the east, and Vazhathope Grama Panchayat to the west.The construction of the world-renowned Idukki Dam between 1964 and 1975 transformed Idukki into a miniature representation of India, bringing together people from diverse linguistic, cultural, and regional backgrounds.
